The rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Francisco Mora, and the CEO of ISTOBAL, Yolanda Tomás, have signed a sponsorship agreement to renew the company’s support for the second consecutive year to the Hyperloop UPV team, consisting of students from the Generación Espontánea UPV programme who are developing a prototype for Hyperloop, the so-called fifth method of transport. It is a revolutionary means of transport for passengers and goods powered by 100% renewable energy that will allow us to travel at more than 1,100 km/h.
Through the agreement, the Valencian leader in car wash and car care solutions strengthens its commitment to talented university students who are working, in collaboration with the University of Purdue (Indiana), in the construction of this innovative and revolutionary prototype for the train of the future. The first agreement to support the team of the Universitat Politècnica de València was signed by the company last year. The project has been selected from 300 Universities worldwide to participate in Hyperloop Pod Competition 2, organised by the American aerospace company SpaceX at the end of August.
Juan Vicén Balaguer, Head of Communication at Hyperloop UPV, said that “the team is currently finalising the list of sponsors for the competition this summer, so we encourage companies to support the team. For companies, this is an opportunity to participate in a high-impact project, have huge visibility and position themselves in a new market that will become the centre of attention”.
Yolanda Tomás, CEO of ISTOBAL, stressed “the importance of continuing to support the talent generated at the university and the innovation and research conducted by these young people, through revolutionary projects like this one, and other projects that we are developing together with students of the Polytechnic University through the ISTOBAL Professorship”.
In this regard, the rector of the UPV, Francisco Mora also stressed ” that the continued support of ISTOBAL is much more than a simple economic guarantee. It is also strong commitment by a leading company with presence all over the world. ISTOBAL’s support to Hyperloop UPV gives the project another dimension: it is no longer an adventure or something impossible but technology turning into reality” .
Hyperloop UPV, one of the 40 groups under Generación Espontánea
Hyperloop UPV won the Concept Design and Best Propulsion Subsystem awards at SpaceX’s Hyperloop Pod Competition Design Weekend in Texas (United States) -a competition created by Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and the creator of Paypal- to develop a revolutionary means of transport for passengers and goods travelling at over 1,100 km/h.
Hyperloop UPV is one of the 40 groups in the Spontaneous Generation platform, launched by UPV to help students be more competitive and have an international vocation. Under this umbrella, the UPV deploys an institutional support programme targeted at the most active student associations for them to develop extracurricular activities (participation in events, competitions, international competitions, volunteer programmes, etc.) and become an example for other students.
