ISTOBAL and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) have created the ISTOBAL Professorship to promote training, dissemination and research in the engineering field.

Yolanda Tomás, ISTOBAL’s CEO, and Francisco Mora, the Rector of the UPV, signed the collaboration agreement today. The term is one year; the agreement will be extended if mutually agreed by the parties.

With this initiative, the Valencian leader in car wash solutions for the automotive sector continues supporting the talent, research and innovation generated by universities.

The ISTOBAL professorship is ascribed to the School of Design Engineering and will be led by Prof. Julián Salt Llobregat, from the Department of Systems and Automation Engineering. The initiative will contribute to training future professionals, boosting research in the engineering area and fostering R&D&I projects.

The activities planned by the ISTOBAL Professorship include final-project competitions, contests of ideas, complementary training, collaboration in master’s degrees, technical and technological dissemination events, and the promotion of national and international expert meetings in different areas.

With the creation of the Professorship, ISTOBAL strengthens its close relationship with University. Among recent initiatives intended to support higher education, ISTOBAL sponsored the Hyperloop UPV team who won the award to the ‘Best Design’ and ‘Best Propulsion System’ in the competition organised by Elon Musk’s company, Space X. The team will return to California in January 2017 to make their 100% renewable-energy supersonic transport project come true.

UPV- LINKS WITH THE ECONOMIC CONTEXT

Including ISTOBAL’s initiative, the Polytechnic University of Valencia has 50 entrepreneurial professorships and business seminars. In spite of the complex economic situation, new companies and institutions joined their project in 2015 and 2016. As a result, interesting initiatives are generated for the university community, and UPV students are given the opportunity to improve their résumés.
